Check out The Grand or El Cortez if you want to sit at a table for a while and not lose a fortune. I mean, it's cheap tables - but not the cheapest. You can see our review on that place if you'd like! The pool looks super rad and we've debated staying at the hotel when we eventually do book our stay downtown (one of these years!). Also, if you're at a slot machine, if you tip your server generously the first time they come around, they're usually more apt to visit you again! Golden Nugget has some great restaurants - we personally enjoyed Claim Jumpers. I take my sweet time thinking against a machine so I kept timing out of qualifying. A bartender explained it to me over one of the Black Jack machines - there's a green light and a red one, I only trigger the green light (green means bring me a drink) if I play enough $2 hands in quick enough succession. You have to spend a certain amount of money within a certain amount of time in order to "qualify" for those "free" drinks. But - that's its charm! You just have to understand it to appreciate it. Imagine a group of aging MTV Spring Breakers wanting to relive their heyday, all lubed up with Bud Light and a pack of Marlboros, now tell them you're supposed to get free drinks, spin em around a few times, and throw em into a room of shiny lights and loud noises.
